Mauritius Government Confers Achievers Excellence Award 2009 to Braj Binani Group

Mauritius, April 17 2009: The President of Mauritius, H.E RT. Hon. Sir Anerood Jugnauth G.C.S.K., K.C.M.G., Q.C. presented the Achievers Excellence Award to Mr. Rajesh Kumar Bagri, Director, Binani Cement Factory LLC and Mr. Vinod Juneja, Managing Director, Braj Binani Group at a glittering ceremony in Mauritius for their extra-ordinary professional achievements and the Group’s outstanding contribution towards development of strong trade relations between India and Mauritius.

The award fosters a strong trade relationship between India and Mauritius. It also identifies the efforts of the Braj Binani Group to promote Mauritius as a regional hub for and support industrial development here.

Mr. Bagri’s comments were “Mauritius is like a second home to Braj Binani Group and the bondage has grown stronger with this prestigious award. I look forward to our cement plant coming up soon and affording us an opportunity to actively contribute to the economic prosperity of this region”.

An elated Mr. Juneja said,“It is an honour for us to accept this award. We are extremely happy that the efforts made by the Braj Binani Group have been recognised not only in India but also by the Mauritius Government and the people of this country. We hope to contribute to the economy of Mauritius by investing about USD $30 million in a state of the art Freeport/Export Oriented Unit for Clinker Grinding & packaging at Port Louis, Mauritius with adequate pollution control technology.”

This Greenfield unit will generate additional revenue to the port as well as to the economy of Mauritius in general, create employment opportunities for locals and improve foreign exchange inflow. The project is expected to be complete within 18 months from the zero date. The Freeport/Export Oriented Unit for Clinker Grinding & packaging at Mauritius will soon become the hub for supply of cement to the neighbouring region particularly to the countries of the South African Development Communities and those of the common market for eastern and southern Africa.

The management policy of the Braj Binani Group towards quality and environments has lead to the company receiving ISO 9001:2000 certification for quality, ISO 14001:2004 certification for environment and OHSAS 18001:2007 certification for occupational health and safety.
