Ghanshyam Binani Foundation Honors Young Brave Heroes of the Country

Ghanshyam Binani Foundation, announces the winners of the Prestigious 8th National Ghanshyam Binani Children’s Award

Udaipur, May 2, 2009 : Ghanshyam Binani Foundation, a non-profit, charitable organization of the Braj Binani Group today announced the winners of the 8th Ghanshyam Binani Children’s Award. The announcement of the awardees took place in the white city of India -Udaipur and the recipients of the award are Km. Prachi Santosh Sen from Indore, Master Vishal Suryaji Patil from Kolhapur and a young boy from New Delhi. Unfortunately his name cannot be revealed due to security reasons The conference was graced by the presence of Dr. Pasricha, Ex-DGP, Brig. Maj. Gen. K.T. Gajria, Mr. Vinod Juneja, Managing Director, Braj Binani Group and Bina Verma, Event co-coordinator and Chief of Corporate Communications, Braj Binani Group.

The Award winners Km. Prachi Santosh Sen and Master Vishal Suryaji Patil will be awarded a thematically designed silver medal, citation and cash reward of Rs. 51,000/. The Award consists of a thematically designed silver medal which is embedded with the symbol of a pyramid and a crystal. The pyramid and the crystal are considered the epitome of energy. In fact, they absorb and emit energy and this medal acknowledges that force within. As the young boy from New Delhi could not attend the award ceremony in Udaipur due to security reasons, he will be specially honoured by Bina Verma, Chief of Corporate Communications, Braj Binani Group in New Delhi in the presence of Child Welfare Committee members, Trustees of Salaam Baalak Trust (SBT) and other dignitaries.

Km. Prachi Santosh Sen from Indore has displayed immense courage by saving the lives of four children from heavy electricity current passing through overhead cable and risking her own life in the process. The boy from New Delhi displayed extraordinary valor by providing vital information to police and Master Vishal Suryaji Patil from Kolhapur displayed outstanding gallantry by saving two lives from drowning.

The nominations for the award came from the length and breath of the country and a total of 55 children were short listed for the award. The selection was done through a vigorous process which involved discussion, debate and finally concluding on these three names. These three children had shown commendable courage and presence of mind in times of need and have helped people who were not even related to them.

Since the inception of the Ghanshyam Binani Children’s Award, 15 children have received this award till date.

These young but fearless children have showed exemplary courage and presence of mind by protecting others while risking their own lives. This Award is to inculcate a spirit of courage and humanity amongst the young citizens of the country, who are our future. We hope this Award will ignite the spark within all of us and inspire us to face challenges head on, just like these young children did.”
