An enviable track record... spread over six decades.

1940s

Binani Metal Works Limited founded on 25 February 1941 near Howrah, Kolkata, by the Founder Chairman Seth Govardhandas Binani.

1950s

Binani set up its establishments in London, UK, for international trading, indenting of non-ferrous metals, investments, leasing and other activities.
The company went public for the first time in 1953.
Binani earned recognition as the largest importer and distributor of non-ferrous metals in the country.

1960s

In 1962, Binani entered into a technical and financial collaboration with Cominco Limited,Canada to form Cominco Binani Zinc Limited.
It was the first Indian company to manufacture high-grade electrolytic zinc at Binanipuram, Kerala in 1967.
1970s
By leveraging technology and keeping up with a burgeoning market, Binani Zinc Limited successfully increased its capacity from 12 kty to 20 kty.

1980s

Binani Zinc Limited further upgraded its technology with assistance from M/s. Lurgi, Germany.
Binani Zinc Limited commenced production of special high-grade electrolytic zinc ingots with 99.995% purity.
1990s
Cominco Binani Zinc was rechristened Binani Zinc Limited on 3 March 1991.
Two Public Issues, one in February 1994 and the other in February 1995, were undertaken to raise funds for the implementation of two new projects – namely Glass Fibre & Cement. Both the issues were oversubscribed.
The company was rechristened Binani Industries Limited in 1996 reflecting its status as a multi-divisional, multi-product and multi-locational company driven by technology and professionalism.
In 1995, Binani Zinc collaboratedwith M/s U.M. Engineering Limited to adopt its state-of-the-art technology and increased its capacity to 30 kty.
In March 1996, the Glass Fibre Division of Binani Industries Limited commenced commercial production at Colvale, Goa. At the time, it was the single largest glass fibre plant in India.
In 1996, The Binani Cement Factory LLC was established in the Jebel Ali Industrial Area in Dubai.
In November 1997, Binani Cement Limited commenced commercial production at Pindwara, Rajasthan.
In 1998, Goa Glass Fibre Limited received an ISO 9002 accreditation from Bureau Veritas Quality International Certification, UK.
On 1 October 1998, Binani Glass Fibre was hived off and transferred to Goa Glass Fibre Limited as a wholly owned subsidiary of BIL.
In January 1999, Binani Cement Limited received an ISO 9002 from KPMG, following it up with an ISO 14001 Certification in October 1999.
2000-01
Binani Zinc Limited received an ISO 14001 and an ISO 9001:2000 Certification from Bureau Veritas Quality International for their Environment Management System and Quality Management System respectively.
Binani Zinc Limited adopted the '5s' housekeeping management practice – sort, set, shine, standardise and sustain – and tagged it with the international accreditation ISO 14001:1996.
Leveraging the potential of people, Binani Zinc Limited became the first company in the manufacturing sector to go for international accreditation.
Binani Zinc Ltd had a capacity expansion of 38,000 tpa in 2004.
Binani Zinc Ltd installed a residue management facility to convert the jarosite residue into a more environment friendly jarofix material in technical collaboration with CE Zinc, Canada in 2009.
Goa Glass Fibre increased its capacity from 10,300 tpa in 2005 to 16000 tpa in 2009
With an initial capacity of 1.65 mtpa in 1997, Binani Cement reached a commendable 2.25 mtpa in 2005
With the influx of a new kiln, 2 additional 22.3 MW power plants, a grinding mill along with a split grinding unit at Neem Ka Thana the annual was boosted in India to 6.25 mtpa.
In 2006, BCLLC, Dubai expanded the capacity of its plant from 0.5 million tonnes to 1 million tonnes of OPC and GGBFS
In 2007, identifying China as a pivotal market, Binani Cement formed a joint venture Shandong Binani Rongan Cement Co. Ltd. (SBRCCL) after acquiring management control of M/s. Rizhao Rongan Construction Materials Co. Ltd., an operational 2 year old 1200tpd Clinker manufacturing unit.
In 2007 grinding capacity at BCLLC, Dubai was increased to 1.2 mtpa
